ISL Competition
In 2018, to commemorate the occasions of Sign Language Day and International Week of the Deaf, ISLRTC initiated the conduct of an Indian Sign Language Competition with the purpose of showcasing the creativity, knowledge and skills of deaf children in telling stories, jokes and essays in ISL. The Competition has witnessed enthusiastic participation from deaf children and schools every year.
In view of India celebrating 75 years of independence, the theme of the 5th ISL Competition was “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”. The competition was conducted on a national level and there were total 10 competition areas including joke-telling, storytelling, essay, poem/ lyrical composition and visual vernacular, with the topics for the essays being based on the theme of India. Entries were invited from 3 categories:
- Deaf children studying in classes I-XII across India
- Deaf students studying in DTISL programme across India
- Hearing students studying in DISLI programme across India
